Grok assistant development: an AI assistant set up for one job at your company.

Grok is an AI model made by the company xAI, and it can hold a conversation by voice or in writing. We set it up to do one job for you, such as answering the phone after hours. Before it speaks to anyone, we write down with you what it may say and do.

In one sentence

We set up an AI assistant to do one job well, and we keep it inside your rules.

What this work involves

An AI assistant is software that answers questions or completes a task through ordinary conversation. Grok, made by xAI, is one of the AI models we build on. It handles spoken and written conversation well, which suits a phone line, a help page, or a question from a member of staff.

We start by choosing one job for the assistant. A common first job is answering your main phone line after hours and writing up each message. Others are answering staff questions from your own procedures, or answering website visitors from the pages you have already published.

Before the assistant talks to anyone, we write its rules with you. The rules say what it may say, which information it may read, and when it must pass the conversation to a person. They follow your AI Use Policy, the written document that sets how your company uses AI.

Then we test it with the questions your callers and staff really ask. We correct the answers that are wrong, and the assistant is switched on only after you have approved the results. Every conversation is saved, so you can always read what it said.

The assistant runs directly on xAI's service, under an xAI account in your company's name, and only with the information your policy allows. If the work with Third Shift ends, the assistant and its records stay with you.

After launch we read the saved conversations each month and adjust the rules where needed. Once the first assistant is working well, the same approach can take on a second job or feed into wider AI automation in your own systems.

Who does what

You keep your team, and we take this part.

  • You — Choose the job, approve the rules, and own the accounts the assistant runs on.
  • Third Shift — Set up and build the assistant, test it, and review its conversations each month.
  • xAI — Supplies the Grok model and runs the service the assistant uses.
  • Your IT provider — Support the staff who use it and the devices they use it on.

Who it is for

A fit when

  • Offices whose phone goes to voicemail after hours, where someone has to type up every message
  • Teams that answer the same staff questions about procedures every week
  • Owners who want to try AI on one clear job before spending on anything larger

Scope

What it is not

  • Not a public AI tool your staff paste company information into. The assistant runs under rules and accounts you own
  • Not a promise that it never makes a mistake. It is tested, limited to its job, and every conversation is saved for review
  • Not support for the people who use it. Your team or IT provider keeps that

Questions

Questions about grok assistant development

All questions and answers

What is an AI assistant, and what is Grok?

An AI assistant is software that answers questions or completes a task through ordinary conversation, spoken or typed. Grok is the AI model behind the assistants we build, made by the company xAI. We set it up for your company, with your information and your rules. Third Shift is a customer of xAI, and xAI does not endorse us.

What can an AI assistant do for a small company?

It does one job at a time, chosen with you. A common first job is answering the main phone line after hours and writing up each message. Others are answering staff questions from your own procedures, or answering website visitors from the pages you have already published.

Can an assistant really answer our phone?

Yes. We run one on our own phone line. It greets the caller, says the call may be reviewed, asks for a name, company, reason, and callback number, and repeats the company name until the caller confirms it. It then emails the message, the recording, and a written copy of the call to the right person.

How is this different from the AI tools our staff already use?

A public AI tool is a website anyone can type into, under that company's rules and on a personal account. An assistant we build has one job, reads only the information you approve, and runs on accounts in your company's name. Your AI Use Policy decides what it may do, and every conversation is saved for you.

What happens when the assistant does not know the answer?

It says so and passes the conversation to a person. We write that rule before it goes live, along with the topics it must never discuss, such as prices it has not been given or advice it is not qualified to give. Testing with your real questions finds most gaps before a customer does.

What happens to our company information?

The assistant reads only the information you approve, and nothing else in your systems. It runs directly on xAI's service, under an xAI account in your company's name, and your AI Use Policy decides what it may see. You can read every conversation, and you can switch the assistant off at any time.

Will an assistant replace our staff?

No. It takes the repeated, predictable part of a job, such as typing up phone messages or answering the same procedure question for the tenth time. Your staff keep the conversations that need judgment, and the assistant hands those to them with the details already written down.

How long does it take to set up an assistant?

The time depends on the job, and it is set in the written scope before work starts. Most of it goes into writing the rules with you and testing with real questions. You approve the results before anyone outside the company talks to it.

How is an AI assistant priced?

The setup is priced per assistant from a written scope, so you see the price before work starts. The AI service the assistant runs on bills an account in your company's name by how much it is used. You see that running cost each month, and the monthly review can be part of a set fee.

Who owns the assistant if we stop working with Third Shift?

You do. The assistant, its rules, and its saved conversations sit on accounts in your company's name. If the work with Third Shift ends, they stay with you, and another provider or your own staff can take over.
